I want to help you find deeper connection and peace with yourself and the world around you.
Meet Hiroko
My journey as a therapist started at Azusa Pacific University, and I graduated with a Masters in Clinical Psychology in 2007. I am a therapist who firmly believes each individual is precious and valuable. Our journey of life can be rough, rocky, and lonely at times. In my career, I have worked with individuals, couples, and families on various issues, including, relationship problems, depression, anxiety, stress, grief, self-esteem, trauma, pregnancy, and postpartum issues. I am passionate about joining your journey, whether long-term or short-term and supporting you, and walking with you to a better place.
I help people get unstuck from the place where they feel stuck, so they can be free from the effects of trauma and other difficult life circumstances. I want to help you find a sense of connection and peace within you and with the world around you. I am a trauma-informed therapist, meaning I will look at the difficulties you are experiencing through the lens of how the symptoms developed as an adaptation to your environment. We will hold space with lots and lots of curiosity and openness to be with your emotions and problems that are normally hard to be with. I employ interventions such as parts work and brainspotting to create changes in the subcortical brain where the knowledge from your past and trauma are being held. You have a brilliant system that has enabled you to get through tough times. Given the right tools and environment, I trust that your system will move toward healing and love.
Having grown up in Japan and Germany, and having studied in the US, Canada, and India, my international background gives me an appreciation for different cultures. And as I have learned that each of us indeed comes from our own unique family cultures, I approach each individual with curiosity to learn about the very culture they are from without making assumptions so that our therapy is a secure place for you to explore, learn, heal, and grow. A safe place where you get to be you, where you get to give yourself a voice. I will be open-minded and nonjudgmental and treat you with warmth and respect. As a therapist who is a Christian, I believe that repairing parts of ourselves and our relationships can improve our relationship with God in ways that we don't even expect. You are welcome to let me know if you would like to bring aspects of your spirituality into this healing journey.
I am a mom to two wonderful children and a wife to my husband. I love animals and the outdoors. Our family, including our cocker spaniel, Toffee, love going on adventures that include traveling, rock climbing, and camping off the grid to enjoy the stars. When I am relaxing at home I enjoy making music and having quality time with those I love.
